MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants for this position must possess:

  1. A working knowledge of plastic injection molding industry, preferably with a degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  2. Ten years of direct experience in a tool room environment of which 3-5 of those years have been in a management capacity.
  3. Good understanding of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices with some understanding of statistical quality concepts.
  4. A familiarity with design of experiment practices and must be computer literate (MS Office).
  5. The ability to be a team leader with excellent organization, communication and supervisory skills.
  6. Detail orientation, must be organized and flexible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

In order to become, or remain, qualified to perform and capable of performing this job, employees must be capable of successfully performing all of the following essential functions of the job.

  1. Provide customer communication and technical support in design, documentation and quality standards of molds.
  2. Compiles and issues price quotes on mold design modifications and spare parts.
  3. Supervises personnel, conducts performance evaluations and participates in training and development.
  4. Responsible for departmental budget.
  5. Ensures mold inventory and print files are maintained and current.
  6. Prepares quotes on mold maintenance, cost of spares and engineering changes.
  7. Writes and implements tool room procedures and policies.
  8. Updates mold design drawings as required.
  9. Conducts bid process for subcontracted applications.
  10. Provides internal and external customers with technical support as needed.
  11. Ensures machine tools are properly maintained and accurate, up to date service records are maintained.
  12. Issue and track vendor purchase orders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work the standard 40 hour work week, plus overtime as required to complete assignments on a timely basis. Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to transport oneself to and from offices of other personnel throughout the production floor and other areas of the facility. Must be able to read and write English; be able to see with or without corrective lenses; have the ability to think logically, must be able to pull push, carry and lift various items related to the position up to 30 lbs.
