Avionics Technician - Aircraft Electrical Systems

Jacksonville, FL

Contract Position

$29.87-$35.22/Hour

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical and avionics maintenance, modification, and testing on military and commercial aircraft systems.
  • Read and interpret wire schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings to support aircraft system installations.
  • Conduct bonding, resistance, and continuity checks; execute AC/DC power verification.
  • Install and terminate electrical wiring and components including coaxial cables, quadrax, fiber optics, and shielded cables.
  • Utilize electrical and precision tools such as environmental crimpers, megohmmeters, multimeters, and bond meters.
  • Perform Air Data Testing and scheduled maintenance, repairs, modifications, and functional testing of avionics systems.
  • Document work accurately and maintain compliance with all regulatory and company safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with leads and subject matter experts to resolve technical discrepancies and meet project timelines.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces following "Clean as You Go" principles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of recent aircraft mechanic experience (within the last 12 months).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Strong experience with aircraft electrical and avionics systems, wiring installation, termination, and testing.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant Certification.
    • Knowledge of general aircraft maintenance protocols (e.g., FOD control, tool control, Human Factors, COSHH).
    • Prior experience in both commercial and defense aviation environments.
