Job Title: Procurement Manager

Location: Clevedon, Somerset

Type of Employment: Full Time, Permanent position

The Procurement Manager Will be Responsible For:

  • Developing and managing procurement strategies for equipment and materials to ensure prompt, cost effective supply to Hydro’s UK Operating businesses.
  • Directly manage and motivate a team of buyers, ensuring efficient procurement operations and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Developing and managing strategic supplier relationships and implementing procurement best practices to support the companies’ operational objectives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Drivers Licence Required
  • UK Valid Passport Required

Competence & Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree, ideally in a supply chain management or engineering discipline
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body e.g. Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply
  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in roles related to procurement.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a team lead role, preferably within equipment supply industry.

  • Experience with price analyses, source selection and justification
  • Strong understanding of import and export regulations
  • Knowledge of current supply and quality management techniques
  • Strongly objective analytical approach to decision making
  • Strong communications skills at all levels within Hydro and its suppliers.
  • Managing International supply chains (preferred).
  • Languages (preferred).

Key Duties:

  1. Understand business requirements to establish and maintain a competitive supply base that is appropriate to support the Company’s strategic objectives.
  2. Establish, maintain and develop the Company’s procurement policies and practices and ensure these are adopted by, and embedded within, business units.
  3. Lead on commercial negotiations with supply partners and the drafting of legal contracts.
  4. Develop strategic Category Plans, which will include forecasting demand, considering market factors and agree an opportunity pipeline with the business.
  5. Deliver value through sourcing exercises and continuous improvement through supplier management of key strategic relationships.
  6. Proactively identify, evaluate, and drive opportunities of procurement options to provide value for money.
  7. Identify price trends within the supply chain that will have an impact on the business and advise of the impact of these on future activities.
  8. Establish metrics to report and drive improvement in: cost of goods; on-time delivery; and lead time; quality of products and services.
  9. Develop the buying team and drive the adoption of best practice in procurement and quality management across all divisions and, where necessary, define and drive improvement programs with suppliers.
  10. Perform risk assessments on key suppliers and implement appropriate risk reduction strategies to ensure business continuity.
  11. To perform duties in accordance with all relevant legislation, in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act and apply the requirements of ISO45001.
  12. To apply requirements of BS EN ISO 9001, 50001 and 14001, as appropriate, within the areas of responsibility.
  13. Other duties which the company may reasonably require the individual to undertake.
