Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Clinical Director

Main Base: Broadmoor Hospital

Remuneration: 10 Programmed Activities (£105,504 to £139,882 per year) and recruitment and retention payment of £21,678 per year pro rata and a £20,000 responsibility allowance

Contract: Permanent

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to provide the overall clinical leadership of Broadmoor Hospital.

In 2019, we moved into the redeveloped Broadmoor Hospital, which provides a modern, state-of-the-art, high secure facility for patients from across London and southern England that meets national and local policy requirements. The environment is safe and secure in relation to protection of the public, visitors, staff and patients. It is designed to maximise the delivery of modern clinical care.

We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic and experienced Forensic Psychiatrist who has proven leadership and clinical skills, who is focussed on ensuring that patients within the hospital receive the highest standards of care and who will lead by example and be highly visible within the hospital.

You will set the clinical vision for the hospital. You will work closely with senior Trust colleagues and partners in Provider Collaborative/s and other High Secure Hospitals. Key in the coming years will be the evaluation of the Clinical Model, expansion of Research and Development and Patient Safety improvements coupled with the changing commissioning environment through the ICB and Collaborative/s.

You will have a clinical inpatient caseload, in addition to your role as a clinical director.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Candidates must have full GMC registration.
  2. Must have a CCT in Forensic Psychiatry/ General Adult Psychiatry (with significant experience in forensic psychiatry) or be within 6 months of completion of training.
  3. Must be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register at the time of interview.
