Job description

The race team mechanic will maintain the fleet of Darkside Developments Race and Track Cars. Liaising with the Workshop Service Manager to ensure all vehicles are prepared to the highest standard in time for each race meeting/event. To do this you will also work closely with Tuning, Fabrication, Parts, and Dispatch departments to ensure fluidity towards achieving our goal of successive victories.

Role Benefits
Salary (Depending on Experience)
~£34,000 - £40,000 inc Bonus Scheme
Target Hours - 42.5 hours
*Weekend work and late nights may be required to meet unmovable deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, service and support our Diesel Race Cars.
  • Ensure both cars are built to the same standards and specifications according to existing documentation.
  • Work to tight timelines to ensure vehicles are ready for each race/event.
  • Keep accurate records for the operation of the race car including parts fitted and replaced during events.
  • Attend and support all race and test events.
  • Pre and post-race truck and equipment organisation.
  • Fulfil any other responsibilities that are related to the job.
  • Liaise with other departments.

Skills and Abilities

  • Motorsport engineering/experience working in race teams ideal.
  • BMW/VAG experience would be beneficial.
  • Good communication skills working in a team.
  • Creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Self-esteem, motivation, and goal setting.
  • Organisational effectiveness and leadership.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • General upkeep in appearance and cleanliness.
  • The role will involve diagnostics and fitment of non-standard parts.
  • Previous workshop experience is essential.
  • Basic tools are required; specialist tools provided.
  • Formal qualifications are less important than skill, experience, and enthusiasm.

Applicants MUST have the following attributes:

  • Be eligible to work in the United Kingdom and EU.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Working Conditions
Normal working conditions will apply. Special working conditions may include late evenings and weekend work.

Physical Requirements
The role can be physically demanding. Employees will often be required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects regularly, and perform repetitive tasks with few breaks.
