Nurture Teacher

Are you passionate about creating a safe and nurturing environment for young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have a deep understanding of how to support students in their emotional and academic development? We’re looking for a dedicated Nurture Teacher to join our SEMH provision in Accrington, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young learners.

Position: Nurture Teacher
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Part-Time, Permanent

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with young people in SEMH settings or similar educational contexts.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to handle challenges in a calm and supportive way.
  • A commitment to individualised learning and the ability to tailor teaching strategies to meet the needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a personalised curriculum that addresses both the academic and emotional needs of students with SEMH.
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and supportive environment where students can build trust and feel confident in their learning.
  • Use a range of behaviour management techniques to promote positive behaviour, self-discipline, and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, adjusting teaching strategies to meet their evolving needs.
  • Support individual learning plans (IEPs) and work closely with support staff to ensure the holistic development of each student.
  • Encourage emotional growth through therapeutic strategies and encourage positive relationships among students.
