Head of Finance (Temporary) | Sheffield (Hybrid Working)

Your new company

Hays Senior finance are partnering with a major public sector organisation based in Sheffield who are looking to add a temporary Head of Finance to their team.

Your new role

My customers are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for overseeing our financial operations and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ALB (Arm's Length Body) and public spending, and be comfortable working with auditors and conducting audits. Additional commercial knowledge will be considered a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
  2. Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  3. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  4. Liaise with auditors and manage audit processes.
  5. Provide strategic financial advice to senior management.
  6. Monitor and manage public spending and ensure efficient use of resources.
  7. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  8. Analyse financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
What you'll need to succeed
  1. Proven experience in a senior financial role, preferably within an ALB or public sector environment.
  2. Strong knowledge of public spending and financial regulations.
  3. Experience working with auditors and managing audit processes.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Commercial knowledge is a plus.
