Job description

With every community, Stantec redefines what’s possible .

Application Deadline: Recruitment is ongoing. Please apply as soon as possible as the advert may close once we have sufficient applicants.

Your role:

We are looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer to be based in our Brighton office, joining our 2025 Graduate Programme.

You will be involved in significant projects in our water division from day one, both locally and nationally. From outline to detailed design, you’ll input through producing drawings and design calculations to help develop a better way to obtain, clean, and distribute water for our communities (e.g. flood alleviation or pollution management schemes).

In your day-to-day work you will solve engineering problems, use design software and tools such as ArcGIS to carry out engineering calculations, develop designs, produce drawings, reports, and presentations. You will also have the opportunity to undertake site visits. You’ll be doing all this as part of a friendly and collaborative project team along with the support and guidance of our highly skilled Senior and Principal Civil Engineers. You’ll also be given dedicated mentors to support you in your journey to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

About you:

At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with your Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, we’d love to receive your application if you are:

  • A Striver: Exhibiting ownership, consistently delivering on tasks and objectives. You’ll be motivated and proactive in your tasks, having the desire to make a real difference.
  • A Collaborator: You’ll love to work effectively with lots of different people at different levels, all inputting their part towards a shared goal.
  • A Planner: Organising and managing your own activities, dealing effectively with multiple priorities with a structured approach.
  • An Adapter: Able to remain calm in new situations, comfortably switching between a variety of dynamic and exciting tasks.
  • A Multi-Tasker: Thinking about more than one task at a time, while still having an eye for detail.
  • A Problem-Solver: You’ll love to give your thoughts based on what you see, being unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that colleagues are able to provide the appropriate level of support.

What we can offer you:

  • A competitive salary
  • Private medical insurance
  • A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection and life assurance
  • Permanent employment contract to demonstrate our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec
  • Professional progression plan, supporting you to become chartered with ICE.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment and Early Careers peer group and wider ERG network.

Applicants must have an unconditional right to live and work in the UK for an indefinite period without limitation.

Interviews for this position are anticipated to take place in November 2024. Please note that this is a tentative schedule, and the exact dates may vary.
