An established industry player is seeking a Migration Control Centre Operations Manager to lead a pivotal role in the Migration Control Centre team. This dynamic position involves overseeing the operations during a significant transition within the electricity market, ensuring effective management of a complex migration process. You will engage with various stakeholders, drive operational excellence, and contribute to a transformative project aimed at achieving a cost-effective electricity system. If you are a proactive leader with a passion for operational success and stakeholder engagement, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Migration Control Centre Operations Manager (Grade 12) to join the Migration Control Centre team, as part of the MHHS Programme on a 24-month fixed-term contract (FTC).
Team Overview:
The Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) Programme is essential for enabling flexibility and supporting the transition to Net Zero. The programme will contribute to a cost-effective electricity system, encouraging flexible energy use and helping consumers reduce their bills. The shift to Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement is the biggest overhaul of electricity systems and processes since privatisation and the introduction of the competitive market in 1998 and sees the introduction of a new industry wide Target Operating Model.
One of the most crucial phases of this programme is the Migration phase which involves the migration of circa 33M MPANs from old arrangements to the new settlement arrangements, via 9 migration sprints. This phase will commence post Go-live and will run for 18 months until all MPANs are migrated.
Further information on the programme, including the plan, may be found on the Programme website: https://mhhsprogramme.co.uk/
Job Purpose:
The Migration Control Centre (MCC) is the business function within the MHHS Programme that manages the Migration Process and executes the processes and applies the principles contained within the Migration Framework. The MCC overall has the authority to halt or pause migration activities under exceptional circumstances to protect central systems and LDSOs, as well as the overall migration and settlement processes.
Reporting to the Post M10 Programme Manager, you will lead the MCC on a day to day basis acting as the first point of contact for other members of the MCC team, with a very proactive approach.
You will use your skills and expertise to deliver effective operational performance and ensure the successful management operation of the MCC, ensuring a data driven approach is embraced and embedded.
You will provide direction, support and guidance for MCC operational processes and the associated team and represent the Migration team at various forums, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
You will ensure key focus on operational excellence, seeking to continuously improve operations throughout migration and facilitate the achievement of programme benefits.
You will ensure that the MCC operational requirements are understood and that solutions are properly tested and fit for purpose and any risks are appropriately managed through the Migration Framework.
