We are seeking an experienced Hardware Architect to work with our client, hybrid attendance at Cheadle or Templecombe, working to deliver next generation underwater sensing systems. The successful candidate should have experience working on marine sonar or towed array products. We are looking for an energetic and driven engineer with broad expertise; however, of particular interest would be candidates with military and/or aerospace experience.

Responsibilities

The Hardware Architect will perform, but is not limited to, the following activities centred on the provision of marine outboard hardware related to a towed array:

  • Perform trade studies around SWaP and performance characteristics
  • Determine/propose/document architecture options rationalising/resolving conflicting requirements
  • Schematic Capture for PCB Layout for POC hardware
  • Creation of Family Tree/Bill of Materials (BoM)
  • Commissioning and Integration
  • Creation of Test Documentation
  • Determination/documentation of performance
Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline. A lower qualification would be acceptable, for example, HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu.
Essential skills
  • Good knowledge of eCAD design tools like Xpedition
  • Ability to use simulation tools
  • Good understanding of design for EMC
  • Problem solving across a wide range of technologies/products
  • Communication, influencing, negotiating
  • Adaptation/ability to work to specific company processes
Desired skills
  • Palma/Team Centre
  • Application of fibre optics
  • Understanding of high-speed serial data protocols
Experience
  • Post graduate relevant work experience
  • Defence, Aerospace or Oil and Gas work experience would suit this role.
  • Able to work across the full Engineering Development Lifecycle
  • Supply Chain/Obsolescence resolution
