We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an Assistant Procurement Manager within our Food Procurement Team to join us on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic role for an individual who has a keen eye for detail, who shares our love for the vibrant world of pubs and restaurants and is looking to develop their career within Procurement.
In this varied role, the Assistant Procurement Manager will be responsible for supporting the Procurement activity within a number of food categories, and across a breadth of critical administrative tasks and duties. You will work closely with key stakeholders both internally and externally, enabling the team to continue to maximise commercial benefit and competitive advantage for M&B.
The successful applicant will be positioned at the heart of a busy Procurement Department with regular contact with suppliers, brand teams, outlets and Food Development Managers, gaining valuable insight and experience into the key tasks and challenges within Food Procurement.
This role provides an excellent development opportunity for an individual considering a future role as a Procurement Manager or a current procurement specialist looking to stretch their career in a larger company.

What will I be doing…?
- Manage your own category responsibilities, which will involve supplier / key stakeholder engagement and the development and implementation of a clear category strategy.
- Support the Procurement Managers in developing and implementing strategic category plans that ensure continuous improvement within the food categories.
- Assist in the procurement process from tender through to contract execution, including production of tender packs, tender analysis, negotiation and contract writing.
- Actively review and maintain contract files, supplier databases and STEP data.
- Effective management of new supplier set up documentation, product listing, brand extensions, allergen information, product delists etc.
- Monitor and report upon contract performance and adherence.
- Manage the product change process, effectively coordinating the transition in supply arrangements. Ensure accurate and timely completion of product change documentation to ensure smooth implementation of all product changes within agreed timeframes. Act as the liaison between procurement, supply chain, the operations teams, marketing, product programme team and the suppliers.
- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships internally and externally.
- Enhance category knowledge across all food categories through the ongoing personal development programme.
- Work closely with the Product Programme team to ensure all data is correct.
- Attend food shows at FICs / outlets / suppliers.
- Regularly visit suppliers across the UK as required.

- Ideally based within the Midlands to allow for travel to our Birmingham City Centre office and Walsall food development centre.
- Qualifications – a degree in any subject is desirable.
