Mainframe Architect
Hybrid / London
Up to £118,000

Our client, a global leader in IT infrastructure services, is looking for a Mainframe Architect to join their team. This is an opportunity to take on a strategic, technical leadership role, shaping and delivering enterprise-scale mainframe solutions while driving modernization, automation, and cloud integration.

As a Mainframe Architect, you will:

Lead the design and delivery of mission-critical mainframe solutions across hybrid environments.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, success criteria, and technical strategy.
Architect and implement modernization strategies, integrating mainframe databases with cloud platforms.
Provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles, ensuring optimal performance, security, and resilience.
Optimize database performance, capacity planning, and high-availability architectures.
Work closely with Engineers, Architects, and Business Leaders to build scalable and future-proof solutions.

The ideal Mainframe Architect will have:

15+ years of experience in mainframe engineering, database management, and enterprise IT architecture.
Deep expertise in IBM DB2, IMS Database, Adabas, or other mainframe database technologies.
Strong knowledge of z/OS, JCL, JES, RACF/ACF2, CICS, COBOL, PL/1, SQL, and Natural.
Experience in database modernization and hybrid cloud integration.
Ability to articulate the business value of modernization and leverage cutting-edge mainframe capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a track record of delivering complex solutions.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in Agile environments.

The Package:

£100,000 - £118,000 base salary
