Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Quality Management System (QMS) is approved by the Military Aviation Authority (MAA), and meets the requirements of Design Approval Organisation Scheme (DAOS), Maintenance Approval Organisation Scheme (MAOS), MRP Part-M and Contractor Flying Approval Organisation Scheme (CFAOS). The BDUK Quality system is also certified to a multitude of ISO and AS certifications including, ISO9001:2015, AS9100:D, AS9110:C, ISO44001, ISO27001 etc. The company plans to extend these accreditations to new sites and seek additional ones in support of its diverse business needs.

This position is for a Quality Manager to join the Quality Function of Boeing Defence UK Ltd. The BDUK Quality Department encompasses staff conducting assurance, contract and bid reviews, Continuing Airworthiness Management, Regulatory Compliance Co-ordination, Programme Quality, Information Lifecycle Management and quality input to Design and Development activity. The role is mainly based at Bristol, but hybrid working is an option. This role will report to the BDUK Senior Quality Manager, and will assist in the execution of the BDUK QMS and onsite audit plan.

Specific duties include:

  • Maintain and implement innovate solutions/improvements to the Quality Management System
  • Introduce Quality 4.0 principles
  • Assurance of CAMO personnel competence.
  • Assurance of all Digital Programmes within specific International Standards and internal procedures.
  • Quality Manager for all Digital Programmes project work and activity.
  • Assurance of all Core and non-Core CAMO tasks, processes and procedures.
  • Assurance of CAME compliance with Regulation.
  • CAMO Audit activity. To provide assurance of continued compliance with the requirements of MAA approval of the Mil CAMO
  • Conducting audits across BDUK iaw the relevant approval or certificate for the activity
  • Reporting all non-conformance and non-compliances to the BDUK Managing Director at the Bi-annual Quality Management Review
  • The timely reporting of any internal and external audit reports to the relevant auditee
  • Raising risks associated with deployment or maintenance of QMS activity
  • Providing resource to meet the requirements of the Enterprise Standard Gated Process
  • Raising any feedback on any non-conformance to the Early Quality Involvement process
  • Preparation and Approval of Basis Of Estimates for new and existing work scope
  • Reviewing Total Quality initiatives and creating opportunities for developing strategies for execution within BDUK
  • Ensuring and reporting metrics for First Time Quality within the Quality Function
  • BDUK Supplier Quality oversight Manager.
  • Support External Audits

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience within Aerospace / Defence Aviation
  • Previous experience of Quality management across several sites
  • Quality Auditor
  • Demonstrable experience of deploying a Quality Management System in a large complex organization
  • Supplier Quality Experience

The successful candidate will have experience in some of the following:

  • Project Management qualification and/or PRINCE II
  • Systems Engineering background / qualification / experience
  • Lean principles
  • Lead Auditor AS9100 /ISO9001
  • Military and/or Civil Aviation Regulatory experience
  • Software Quality experience/qualifications
  • Experience in Quality 4.0
  • Supplier Quality experience
