What the role will involve:
You'll be working closely with the Head of Group Property & Environment, contributing to the development and delivery of the company's Environmental Social Governance strategy.
The scope of your responsibilities will be broad and important. You'll maintain our Environmental Management System (EMS), conduct internal audits, liaise with external auditors, manage legal compliance updates, and oversee ESOS compliance. Your role will also involve significant research and benchmarking to stay on top of legislation that could impact us and advise on emerging trends in environmental management.
Part of your role will involve stakeholder engagement. You'll manage responses to initiatives such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), FTSE4Good, ISS, Zero Carbon Emissions roadmap, Net Zero, Ad Net Zero, Scope 3 Emissions, and Science Based Targets. You'll also collect data for annual reporting and contribute to our Annual Report.
What you'll need to succeed:
To excel in the role, you'll need a blend of technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach. An educational background in Environmental Science with professional certifications in environmental management systems like ISO 14001 being highly desirable.
A strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements, including ESOS and Carbon Disclosure Project protocols. You'll need robust research and analytical skills to monitor legislative impacts, conduct benchmarking exercises, and advise on industry best practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital for effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders, drafting reports, and contributing to annual reports.
