Highways Project Manager - Bournemouth/hybrid - GBP40-50 p/h - 6 month initial contract

Your new company
You will be working for BCP council for the duration of the contract.

Your new role
You will be responsible for providing Project Management of a NEC Highway Improvement and carriageway maintenance project within the BCP area. Construction is scheduled to commence April 2025. The role will be a mix of BCP offices, site, and home working. You will need to be a car driver to get to the various sites over this 6 month initial contract.

As part of this role, you should expect to carry out work within the following areas:

  1. Oversee the project life cycle of a NEC contract.
  2. Manage all contract communications, through CEMAR or equivalent.
  3. Use technical knowledge and proven experience to develop solutions, to resolve site queries to design issues and clarifications.
  4. Review and accept contractor programmes.
  5. Review contractors' traffic management plans and proposals.
  6. Provide project highlight/progress reports in a suitable format to update the client team.
  7. Monitor project progress against programme, quality, and budget.
  8. Provide technical advice to clients and colleagues, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure efficient design and construction phases.
  9. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, health and safety legislation, CDM regulations, Freedom of Information, and Data Protection laws.
  10. Provide updates and support to internal communications teams to enable residents and stakeholders to be informed of the programme of works.
  11. Management of internal BCP staff supporting the project delivery e.g. site supervisor.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience in all stages of design and construction of civil engineering projects and will have experience with:

  1. NEC Project Manager Accreditation.
  2. BSC (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering or in a related field/experience.
  3. Proficiency in using AutoCAD.
  4. Experience in using CEMAR or equivalent.
  5. Experience in Project or similar programme management software.
  6. Knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, and specifications, including: DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges), TSRGD (Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions), Manual for Streets and CDM Regulations (Construction, Design & Management).
  7. Experience and knowledge of highway contracts, specifications, method of measurement, item coverage, and pricing schedules relating to highway projects and schemes.
  8. Valid UK driving licence (for site visits).

What you'll get in return
GBP40-50 p/h
6 month contract initially.
