Job description

You will be responsible for supporting the business in successful winning and execution of Engineering, Safety by design in Projects. The Technical Lead Engineer/Design Manager will report directly to the bid/project manager and shall have technical authority over the engineering team assigned to the bid/project. As part of this role, you will be presented with a chance to work with some forward-thinking minds in the transmission and offshore Windfarm industry, who are at the core of a company that is a pioneer in the UK for delivering offshore Windfarm solutions and other major transmission system projects, such as sophisticated substations, FACTS, and Synchronous condensers.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Oversee configuration management, change control, and design risk assessments, including HAZID and HAZOP activities, to ensure safety and design integrity.
• Facilitate design reviews, workshops, and technical clarifications between project areas, while establishing clear divisions of responsibility among internal and external parties.
• Incorporate all customer functional and technical requirements into the overall design solution, ensuring effective requirements management and traceability.
• Ensure compliance with CDM design standards and implement Siemens Energy Safety by Design throughout the project with all relevant partners.
• Manage a multi-discipline engineering team to ensure timely delivery of engineering work during project acquisition and execution phases.
• Serve as the technical expert and primary contact for the internal project management team and customers, leading all technical interfaces and coordination efforts.

What You Bring

• Conversant with the latest HV, MV, and LV plant standards and technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of power system engineering, substation primary and secondary design, MV plant, and HV plant operation and maintenance; including health and safety, applicable standards, specifications, regulations, industry custom and practice, etc.
• Understanding of the platform fabrication and civil design and construction industry including the relevant standards and procedures.
• Solid understanding of Safety by Design and Constructability requirements of substations.
• You will understand CDM regulations, especially discharging Designer duties.
• Good standard of IT literacy (especially Word and Excel). Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
• It would be beneficial if you already have prior Project Management qualifications and experience, Chartered Engineer status, Chartered Manager status, experience of continuous improvement projects, LEAN engineering experience, resource management experience, and experience as Principal Designer Representative.
