Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent is required.

Job description

The Village at St Clair located in Windsor, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a CASUAL COOK to join their team.

As a Cook joining our Village, you will:

  • Have completed grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Be certified as an assistant cook, Branch 1, under Regulation 1049.
  • Have successfully completed the Food Service Worker Program from a Community College as listed in the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts & Technology Act 2002 or a registered private career College in Ontario.
  • Possess a valid Food Safety Awareness Certification.
  • Have previous experience preparing large quantities of food, preferably in a health care or long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to have creative flair for menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Prove knowledge of the Ontario Food Premises Regulations and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
  • Be knowledgeable of special and therapeutic diets, including texture modifications.
  • Show ability to work accurately, quickly, and safely.
  • Assess when to increase or decrease recipe quantities to meet the needs of the Village.

It would be an asset if our new Cook has:

  • Leadership qualities and ability to direct the food services department in the absence of the cook and the director of food services.
  • The ability to lift a maximum of 50 lb. (5-25 lb. usual).
  • The ability to participate as an effective team player who works well with others.
  • Experience working and communicating with seniors.
