Job Description:

A lead role with key responsibilities for the technical management and direct oversight of the aerodynamic development of an individual car year project.

What you will be doing:

  1. Lead the delivery of aerodynamic performance for a specific car year project, with direct technical management and oversight of the aerodynamic development.
  2. Work as part of the management group to construct a mutually agreed and communicated aerodynamic development plan.
  3. Monitor, guide and directly contribute to the aerodynamic development progress, working closely with the aero development teams.
  4. Promote an ambitious, positive, respectful, and logical approach to aerodynamic development with a clear strategic framework.
  5. Utilise computation and experimental methods throughout the design and development process, with an innovative and questioning approach.
  6. Suggest and contribute with new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting.
  7. Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve whole-car performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others.
  8. Communicate key findings, opportunities, and threats to key stakeholders within the aerodynamics department and other key areas of the company.

Requirements

  1. A minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
  2. Highly innovative and creative, with a deep understanding of race aerodynamics and typical flow characteristics and behaviours.
  3. Strong understanding of the Formula One Technical Regulations.
  4. Experience in leading, managing and directly contributing to aerodynamic development across all areas of the car.
  5. Strong experience in state-of-the-art CFD/Wind Tunnel/Track aerodynamic testing approaches and methodologies.
  6. Ambitious and self-motivating with the ability to motivate and extract maximum potential from others.
  7. Well versed with CFD and 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
  8. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  9. Ability to line manage/lead teams effectively.
  10. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
  11. Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
  12. Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  13. Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
