Introduction

With a history spanning more than 100 years and remaining family owned, the Sauter Group is a worldwide market-leading specialist in developing, manufacturing, and delivering Building Management Solutions (BMS) for large prestigious commercial and residential properties throughout the UK.

Due to our continued success and growth within our existing client base, Sauter UK are seeking a Sales Estimator to generate new BMS opportunities from our existing service customers.

In this role, which is pivotal to the growth of the Sauter service business and is key to the success of the wider Sauter business, you will proactively deliver quotations and proposals. This will involve site surveys, reviewing site specific requirements, tender documents and electrical / mechanical drawings.

Using this experience, you will need to work closely with the field-based engineers, encouraging them to seek additional opportunities to ensure our clients are continually aware of the latest developments in Sauter technology and equipment to ensure optimal performance of the BMS.

The extent of the proposals can range from simple upgrades to complete new BMS installations where a client may be extending the footprint of their estate. The role therefore requires an excellent understanding of BMS systems with a strong understanding of HVAC solutions and electrical panel drawings.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Working alongside the BMS Service Projects Sales Manager to deliver professional and accurate BMS proposals.

  2. Carrying out regular site visits to survey and evaluate the site requirements and the most suitable BMS solution requirements to meet client demands.

  3. Be an example team player, interacting positively with all members of the wider project and support teams, absorbing feedback and comments to enhance the quoting / tendering process.

  4. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through regular contact with clients to offer project solutions and advice through the introduction of new and innovative products.

  5. Help clients develop design and engineering requirements of building control systems for a varied range of buildings, varying in complexity and demands.

  6. Support in tenders, tender interviews and the preparing of tender submissions, professionally articulating the proposed solution in a factual and honest way to gain trust as a valued supplier.

  7. Collaborate with the internal Service technical, engineering and project management teams to gather necessary information and insights for precise estimations and resourcing deliverables.

  8. Seek commercial support to comply with the project proposal sign off / approval process.

  9. Provide comprehensive project handovers to the project management team for all successfully secured projects, avoiding any ambiguity in the proposed project solution.

  10. Keep up-to-date data with clients' life cycle plans and available budgets to help them plan for further investments in their BMS.

  11. Maintain and update the quotation referencing package to capture all activities and opportunities.

  12. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Executive and the latest regulations and codes of good practice specifically, ensuring all RAMS and Health & Safety measures are maintained.

What we are looking for in an individual:


  1. Minimum 2 years' experience of working in the UK BMS industry, preferably in an engineering or sales role.

  2. Ideally has worked in a technical role where there is a strong understanding of HVAC & BMS solutions.

  3. Highly motivated and capable of working in a team.

  4. Strong commercial acumen and able to make good business judgement decisions.

  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  6. Accomplished problem-solving capability coupled with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.

  7. Be an effective collaborator and business partner with a track record of earning trust and respect of operational and functional colleagues.

  8. Hard working and committed to client delivery to the highest standards.

  9. As an exceptional high level of attention to detail and looks to continued levels of process improvement and efficiency.
