Job Title: Driver Manager

Ref: 12111121

Location: Nottingham

Salary: Circa £k pa plus excellent benefits (free & discounted travel for yourself & dependents, free on-site parking, enhanced ER pension contribution, private medical cover, life assurance and retail discount scheme).

Role Summary

We have a vacancy for a Driver Manager to join a local Transport operator. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced people or operations manager to work in an exciting fast-paced environment within transport operations.

You will be responsible for the management and leadership of Drivers, Minder Drivers and Driver Instructors.

You will be responsible for driver performance and have oversight of driver competence.

You will manage the team to effectively deliver planned passenger services against the timetable in a safe and efficient manner.

The role
  1. Driver Performance management, including absence management
  2. Support Driver Talent Pipeline including Recruitment, training and inductions
  3. Lead Driver development & engagement. Delivering the highest standards of operational excellence for our customers, stakeholders and clients.
  4. Carry out investigations as required for incidents to identify causal factors and lessons learned
  5. Work with Training and Competency Managers to ensure driver assessments and standards monitoring is effectively carried out for all drivers, and other roles with driving competency.
  6. Build effective relationships with trade union officials through regular dialogue and proactively working to address any issues at the earliest opportunity.
  7. Develop, review and implement risk assessments and procedures to ensure the safe driving standards, with a key focus on employee wellbeing.
The ideal candidate will have:
  1. Experience in people management - ideally from within a transportation or logistics background working with drivers
  2. Experience of working closely with others and managing operational teams
  3. Experience of managing team competencies
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. You will be a respected manager within the business modelling professionalism, demonstrating fairness, respect and inclusivity
  6. Previous hands on commercial or industrial driving experience is not essential but would be highly desirable (any vehicles Buses/Coach, HGV/LGV, Car/Taxi, LRVs, maritime vessels or specialist warehouse vehicles e.g FLTs, reach trucks etc).

You must be able to pass a drugs and alcohol test and occupational health assessment. You must be happy to undergo ad-hoc drugs & alcohol testing as part of the company's occupational health and safety policy.
