The Syndicate Controller is responsible for managing the UK Reporting and Accounting function; including internal and external regulatory financial reporting for the Lloyd’s Syndicate and Managing Agency.

The role assists the Head of Syndicate Finance on all finance reporting matters including the development of reporting and management information. Additionally, the role requires significant and proactive interaction with other functions across SiriusPoint to ensure all reporting deliverables are met within the set deadlines.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Manage the timetable and process of filing all Lloyds’s regulatory returns within the set deadlines.
  2. Plan and oversee the production of monthly, quarterly, and yearly management accounting information and financial schedules, including forecasting, monitoring, and variance analysis.
  3. Line Management of the Syndicate Accountant with a strong emphasis on coaching and team development.
  4. Assist the Head of Syndicate Finance with Sirius Corporate Member responsibilities, including reporting to Head Office, UK tax submissions, and statutory returns.
  5. Monitoring of cash flow requirements; ensuring adequate funds in place to meet liabilities and currency matching requirements.
  6. Assist Head of Syndicate Finance in the management of the annual Coming into Line process for the Syndicate.
  7. Contribute to the development of the systems for UK reporting.
  8. Creation and maintenance of Financial Reporting process documentation.
  9. Liaise with SiriusPoint departments, clients, and external parties (e.g., auditors) on all aspects of Syndicate business as necessary.
  10. Attend and give presentations to Sirius International, London Senior Management, SIMA board and committees as required.
  11. Work collaboratively with the other Finance managers.
  12. Maintenance of finance process documentation.
  13. Ad hoc finance projects and reporting.
  14. Any other duties as reasonably required.
  15. To perform all duties in line with the FCA Individual Conduct Rules as documented in the Employee Handbook.

Key Skills & Experience:

To succeed in this role, you should bring a blend of technical expertise, practical experience, and strong communication skills:

  1. Qualified Accountant with UK recognised body.
  2. 10+ years of experience in financial reporting, with a focus on Lloyd’s and London Market expertise.
  3. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Lloyd’s statutory accounting principles.
  4. Experience with financial reporting software and general ledger systems.
  5. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment with evolving priorities.
