Horticulture Apprentice

This is a superb opportunity to study for a Horticulture and Landscape Construction L2 Apprenticeship whilst working across a variety of West Sussex County Council sites developing a skilled undertaking of maintaining sports areas and general horticulture practices, including maintaining outside spaces grass cutting, pruning etc and sports fields.

Within this Horticulture Apprenticeship, the goal is for you to work across a variety of projects and develop a comprehensive commercial skillset.

Working Week: 40 hours per week averaging 8 hours per day over the year. Monday-Friday - Summer hours 6.30am-4.00pm and Winter hours 7am-2.30pm - each season is 6 months.

Salary: £14,560 per annum with any overtime paid at 1.5 times hourly wage if paid in lieu of time off.

Qualifications: Math and English GCSE Grade 4 required or discussion for completion of Foundation Skills Math and English is not achieved.

Small enough to care and large enough to make a difference, the company works for a variety of clients across multiple sites.

Things to Consider:

1. To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must be free from full time education, be resident in the UK for 3 years and have authorisation to work.
2. This is a 2 year apprenticeship with possibility for full time work at the end of it.
3. Full equipment training will be given.
4. Driving license not essential, but would be of benefit.
5. Criminal record or convictions will need to be discussed prior to DBS check.
6. 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
7. Overtime paid at 1.5 times in lieu of hours leave.
8. 6.30am start in the Summer and 7am in the Winter.

Further Information: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £6.40 per hour (As of the 1st April 2024). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16 to 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
