Assistant Herdsperson / Tractor Driver required in Warwickshire.

A conscientious individual with a real passion for cows is required to become part of a forward-thinking team on our family-run dairy farm based near Shipston-on-Stour.

The farm was built on a green field site in 2004 with excellent facilities. We have 280 high-yielding Holstein Friesians averaging 8700l. New housing with automatic scrapers and a fully computerized, auto ID, Dairy Master 14/28 Swiftflo parlour with auto drafting and backing gate, with Moo Monitor + heat detection. We have recently installed 100 extra cubicles and a newly constructed building.

The herd is Autumn calving and housed in the winter (TMR fed) and grazed in the Spring/Summer on a rotational paddock system. Selling milk via an ARLA C.A.R.E. grazing contract, so attention to detail is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

• Being involved in all areas of an expanding farm enterprise, but main duties will be all tractor duties such as TMR feeding, pre-mix formulation, dealing with feed and straw deliveries, grass field work, fertilizer application, sawdust dispensing, and scraping up with bobcat.
• Calving.
• Vet and medical duties including liaising with the vet when required.

The position would suit a self-motivated and enthusiastic person who has knowledge of dairy cows and is looking to progress their career to the next level. Candidates ideally require a telescopic handler certificate, but this is not essential as additional training can be provided in key areas to increase skill set.

Regular Time Off: Alternate weekends off, plus a day off mid-week once a fortnight.
