Teaching Assistants Required Across Sefton

Teaching Assistants and HLTA Required Across Sefton

Teaching Assistant (Levels 1-3) and HLTA
Salary: £22,237 – £28,770 (dependent on experience and qualifications) – (full-time – pro-rata if part-time/term-time)

Hourly Rate: £12.11 – £15.33 per hour (actual wage based on hours worked)

Hours: Flexible, based on placement requirements

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Headteacher or Headteacher at the school, and to the Managing Director at First Steps, your main duties include:

  • 1:1 SEN Support: Provide tailored support to individual pupils as needed.
  • Assist the Teacher: Offer minimal admin support, manage classroom resources, and contribute to the display of children’s work.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour and Inclusion: Help create an inclusive environment where all pupils feel valued and supported.

Key Duties Include:

  • Establishing positive working relationships with pupils and promoting self-esteem and independence.
  • Engaging in structured learning activities, including literacy and numeracy programs.
  • Supporting the school’s ethos and policies on child protection, safety, and inclusion.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities for HLTA

  • Planning and Delivering Lessons: Create and deliver lessons for small groups or whole classes in the teacher’s absence.
  • Independent Class Management: Lead and manage the classroom independently, ensuring students stay engaged and on task.
  • Student Assessment and Feedback: Assess students’ work and progress, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to formal records.
  • Curriculum Support and Planning: Actively participate in lesson planning and curriculum development, creating and adapting learning materials as needed.
  • Direct Communication with Parents and Professionals: Engage with parents and external professionals to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
  • Specialized Administrative Tasks: Handle more complex administrative tasks, such as organizing resources, maintaining records, and managing classroom displays independently.

General

Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), plus two references, and right to work in the United Kingdom.
