Role Overview

The role of a Care Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the people living within Orchard homes. We ensure everyone is cared for with dignity and respect, engaging them in how they receive support from our staff. You will play a key role in ensuring they engage in meaningful activities and receive the best support in line with their individual needs.

Main Duties

• Enable people to remain as independent as possible while providing support and assistance as per the individual’s needs, including delivering personal care such as washing, dressing, and oral care.
• Be understanding and patient towards everyone, encouraging and supporting them to participate in leisure activities appropriate to their preferences, ensuring their social and emotional needs are met.
• Responsible for making and changing beds, tidying rooms, undertaking light cleaning duties as needed, and generally assisting in maintaining a clean and welcoming home.
• Help serve meals and drinks at mealtimes, presenting meals attractively with polite service and providing the appropriate level of support at mealtimes.
• Understand and comply with all statutory and legal requirements relevant to the role, including Health & Safety, COSHH, and the Care Standards Act, with a clear understanding of Infection Prevention and Control policies.
