Job description

Position: Horse Groom & PA

Location: Leeds

Hours: 26 hours per week, afternoons over 6 days (including Saturday; may swap days due to competition, vet, etc.)

Salary: £11.44 WD + £15.44 WE

Responsibilities:

  1. Proficient in horse care and groundwork, including exercise therapy, lunging, long reining, and polework.
  2. Show skills at the interview and provide proof of experience with at least 1 equine reference.
  3. Take sole responsibility for equine care at times.
  4. Support the owner/rider with various tasks such as:
    1. Mounting assistance
    2. Tacking up
    3. Rugging and leg wraps
    4. All aspects of horse care (no yard duties other than checks)
  5. Manage administration of appointments, events, bookings, supplies, vaccinations, vet visits, and physio.
  6. Assist rider with reminders for medication, fatigue, and temperature, and accompany them to ensure timely bus rides.

Qualifications:

No specific qualifications required, but training and further free courses available in grooming, first aid, and moving handling.

Candidate Profile:

Looking for an honest, trustworthy, caring, and fun person interested in working with a disabled rider/owner. Must have initiative and be committed to providing dedicated long-term support.

The rider has a great sense of humor, is active and positive, and is overcoming illness challenges. The right candidate will need to provide positive motivation and have the ability to refocus when needed.

Saturday 6 hours enhanced rate available.
