Senior Software Engineer PHP (MongoDB or Postgres OR MYSQL) with (Azure or AWS) TDD Docker, 5 years + UK Remote Role

They are looking to establish a brand new team who will work on a groundbreaking transformation programme for the next decade.

As a Senior Engineer, you will own the quality of the codebase, ensuring the highest standards, consistent patterns, and a Test-Driven Development (TDD) approach. Your expertise in scaling and issue detection will be invaluable. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in helping engineers enhance their skills, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Your role involves not just executing tasks but shaping the future of education technology alongside Product Owners, Architects, and Development teams. Together, you will design innovative solutions that align with the overarching vision.

You will collaborate closely with Product Architects, challenging decisions and optimizing technical designs. Your insights will be crucial in translating conceptual designs into tangible technical deliverables, driving the mission forward with every line of code.

Experience

1. Substantial professional experience with PHP
2. Proficiency in developing scalable software for large codebases
3. Strong knowledge of relational databases, including MSSQL or PostgreSQL or MySQL
4. Demonstrated commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD)
5. Deep knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (Azure OR AWS)
6. Experience in designing, understanding, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems
7. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
8. Solid understanding of Security, Networking, and Database concepts
9. Familiarity with standard project lifecycle processes
10. Proactive and inquisitive nature, willing to undertake various responsibilities
11. Proficiency in Docker
12. Highly skilled in clean code architecture, application and systems architecture, and principles/methodologies such as SOLID and DDD
13. Upholds high standards for code quality, testing, and iterative, continuous delivery
14. Excellent collaboration skills for pair programming and code reviews
15. Experience owning a feature from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution
16. Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging high-volume production systems
