An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Diabetes Specialist Podiatry team.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and committed Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist with a passion for improving the experience and clinical outcomes of our patients, and who inspires others to provide excellent patient care.
We are looking for a Podiatrist who has experience of working autonomously, supporting patients with a variety of diabetes treatments, and playing a key role in education of other healthcare professionals.
The post holder will work closely with the Diabetic Foot Ulcer Service Lead, Consultant Podiatrist and Diabetic Foot Podiatry Technician Band 4 in providing and developing the delivery of a high-quality specialist Diabetic Foot Ulcer service for patients with Diabetic foot complications as part of the multi-disciplinary Diabetes Team at Salisbury Foundation Trust (SFT) for in patient and out-Patients.
The successful candidate will work autonomously in a Vascular and Diabetes outpatient setting and will work in the same unit as other Specialist staff such as Vascular Nurses, sonographers and Vascular Surgeons. You will report to and be supported by a Band 8 Consultant Podiatrist. You will be expected to provide face to face consultations, assessment, and treatment to patients with a range of Diabetic foot ulcerations, infections, and Charcot foot problems within the Vascular and Diabetes unit and on wards across the hospital site. Using advanced decision-making skills and working with the Band 8 Consultant Podiatrist and Diabetes medical team, the post holder will undertake advanced assessment of the Diabetic foot including vascular assessment, pathology testing and radiology testing as required. They will produce management plans for the Foot problem and work closely with other agencies such as Community Nursing and Community Podiatry teams, Practice Nursing team and ward based medical and Nursing teams. There will be a close working relationship with Hospital based Orthotics service also.
They will also then review the effectiveness of those management plans and escalate up to the Band 8 Consultant Podiatrist or Consultant Diabetologist as needed.
This role will also play a key part in delivering education to other health care professionals focussing on all aspects of assessing and managing Diabetic Foot complications. This will include staff groups across the hospital such as Ward Nurses, Doctors and others.
