Outpatients see on average 65,000 patients a month working with a large variety of specialities to provide the best possible patient experience. Opportunities are available in our Interventional Radiology Department, Medical, Gynaecology and Surgical Outpatients.

We are looking for enthusiastic, vibrant Registered Nurses to join our General Surgery or Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatient Department. You will need to be a dynamic and motivated NMC registered nurse and be able to show leadership in a clinical area.

The Outpatients department consists of a variety of outpatient clinics providing diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient care to the local community.

Please note that our core hours are Monday – Friday 8am to 8pm.

1. Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care, utilising research findings as appropriate.
2. To provide leadership of the ward team to ensure a high and safe standard of patient care.
3. Ensuring that nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with the policy taking appropriate action in emergency situations.
4. Setting, monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
5. Maintaining personal contact with patients, relatives and carers, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times.
6. As skills develop, managing the ward or department in the absence of the Clinic Sister/Charge Nurse or Deputy, maintaining safe staffing levels, ensuring that policies are followed up and that the Senior Nurse is informed of any problems or incidents that might arise.
7. Maintaining timely and accurate nursing records and ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
8. Storing, checking and administering drugs including the intravenous route in accordance with Trust policy and NMC standards.
9. To work with minimal supervision in all areas of the speciality as required.

1. To work within an interdisciplinary team of nursing, medical, paramedical and clerical staff, under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide quality patient services.
2. Effectively provide a range of support services to the Outpatient Department encompassing clerical, technical and ancillary duties delegated by registered nursing staff.
3. To achieve fully and maintain competencies within the Trusts nursing competency framework for this grade (according to KSF outlines/ specific profession examples of application).
