Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Department or experienced Family Solicitor looking to step up to join my client's team in their Otley, West Yorkshire offices.


My client's Family Department is a busy department covering private family law, financial remedy, divorce, and cohabitation, and they are looking for someone to help maintain and assist them in taking their busy family practice forward.


Main Duties:

  1. Advising family matter clients and attending court and ADR as appropriate.
  2. Administration of case file and accounting management in accordance with our procedures including regular review of files and conducting peer file audits.
  3. Ensuring that casework is promptly and efficiently billed.
  4. Developing the firm's procedures and documentation.
  5. Marketing the department, the firm, and yourself.
  6. Attending training courses as agreed.
  7. Acquainting self with the contents of the Office manual and complying with its procedures.
  8. Maintaining own training and development record in accordance with SRA requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Family experience: Minimum 6+ year PQE.
  2. Good client care skills, provide professional and competent legal advice in accordance with SRA Code of conduct.
  3. Strong IT skills.
  4. Effective business development skills with proven marketing strategies.
  5. Capability to generate fees in accordance with agreed targets.
  6. Proven experience of handling own caseload.
  7. Ability to adhere to and manage deadlines.
  8. Good drafting and writing skills, excellent communication and technical ability.
