Duct Fitter's Mate
We are seeking an experienced Duct Fitter's Mate specialising in plastic ductwork for residential projects. The successful candidate will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plastic duct systems within residential buildings, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

Duct Fitter's Mate Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation of Plastic Ductwork: Support the installation of plastic duct systems, including PVC and other materials, in residential buildings.
2. Duct Routing and Fitting: Assist in planning and executing duct routing through walls, floors, ceilings, and other confined spaces in residential settings.
3. Reading Blueprints: Aid in interpreting drawings and specifications to understand system layouts and installation requirements.
4. Measuring and Cutting: Help measure and cut plastic duct to precise lengths, ensuring correct sizing for the project.
5. Joining Techniques: Assist in using various joining methods, including solvent welding and mechanical connections, to ensure a secure, leak-free duct system.
6. Inspections: Support inspections and testing on completed ductwork to ensure systems are functioning properly.
7. System Maintenance: Assist with maintenance and repairs on existing duct systems, ensuring efficiency and safety.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with other trades such as HVAC engineers, electricians, and plumbers to coordinate ductwork installations with other systems.
9. Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
10. Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and meets project requirements and industry standards.

Duct Fitter's Mate Key Requirements:

1. Experience: Proven experience as a Duct Fitter's Mate, specifically working with plastic ductwork in residential projects.
2. Knowledge: Basic understanding of ventilation systems and plastic duct materials, including PVC, uPVC, and other common types used in ductwork.
3. Technical Skills: Ability to assist in reading technical drawings and specifications related to ductwork installation.
4. Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with hand and power tools related to duct installation (cutters, heat guns, etc.).
5. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assist in troubleshooting issues with duct layouts, sizing, or obstructions during installation.
6. Physical Fitness: Capable of working in confined spaces, lifting ductwork, and standing for extended periods.
7. Driver’s License: Valid driver's license required as travel to residential sites may be necessary.
8. CSCS Card: Required.

Duct Fitter's Mate Desirable Skills:

1. Qualifications: Relevant industry qualifications such as NVQ in Ductwork or equivalent.
2. Experience in HVAC Systems: Prior experience working on residential HVAC or ventilation systems.
