Job Vacancy: Design and Technology Teacher (Food Technology Focus)

Location: Marple, Stockport
Position: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)
Salary: 150 - 200 per day (depending on experience)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Design and Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food Technology to join a dynamic and supportive department in a high-achieving secondary school. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring and motivating students to excel in Food Technology.

Job Description

As a DT Teacher with a focus on Food Technology, you will be responsible for teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5, depending on experience and student demand.

Your role will include:

  • Developing and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire creativity and practical skills in food preparation and nutrition.
  • Encouraging students to explore food science, health and safety, and sustainable practices within the curriculum.
  • Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their academic development.
  • Promoting healthy eating and sustainability, and encouraging students to apply their learning in real-world contexts.
  • Participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and department initiatives that enhance the learning experience.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve teaching practices within the department.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a degree in Design and Technology or a related subject, with a specialism in Food Technology.
  • Hold qualified teacher status (QTS) or be in the process of obtaining it.
  • Have experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Be passionate about food education and keen to inspire students.
  • Possess strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Have a good understanding of current curriculum and exam specifications.
  • Be committed to professional development and contributing to the wider school community.
  • Be dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
