Job description

Role:
To become a volunteer driver and transport members of the charity to various locations. About with Friends have 2 large minibuses as well as other vehicles which are used for various activities including driving members from the base to lunch clubs and transporting senior citizens to such clubs. The minibuses are also used for taking members to social activities during the week and/or at weekends and we would ideally like the driver to stay and join in that activity. The vans are used for taking members shopping at the Cash and Carry, transporting equipment to various locations etc.

Minimum Requirements:
Drivers must be over the age of 21 and have held a full driving license for at least 2 years. Training will be given for driving the minibus and operating the wheelchair lift and safely securing. Wheelchairs will be on the vehicle.

Time commitment:
Dependent on activities and events.

Their main purpose is to offer children, young people and adults with learning disabilities the chance to lead the lives they choose. Members have the opportunity to develop lasting friendships, engage in social activities, get involved in the community, have the chance to try new experiences and to learn new skills for both life and work.
