Role: Customer Delivery Driver Trainee

Position: Permanent

Location: Trumpington (CDH)

Pay: £12.40 per hour

Hours: Full Time, 41 hours per week

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 10:30-21:30 and Saturday 07:00-18:00

Our Drivers work 4 days out of 6 (Monday - Saturday), allowing for 3 days off each week to maintain a healthy work/life balance. Overtime is available when required, providing potential to increase earnings.

About the role:

Our Customer Delivery teams represent the John Lewis & Partners brand. As part of a 2-person crew, you will deliver, assemble, and install a variety of home furnishings, electrical products, and sports equipment, ensuring every delivery is executed with exceptional customer service.

As a driver for the Partnership, you will promote the Partnership brand through professional and courteous conduct towards other road users.

What you will be doing:

• Complete the Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme to become a fully competent John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer, achieving the necessary criteria, including obtaining your C1 licence.
• Start your day by completing all daily vehicle checks and adhering to defect reporting procedures. After safely loading and checking your route, undertake your deliveries and collections alongside your colleague.
• Communication with customers is crucial; ensure you call every customer 30 minutes before arrival. Upon arrival, deliver goods to the designated room and perform any booked services, which may include:
• Installation and disconnection of white goods
• Assembly of flat pack furniture
• TV installations
• Offering to take away packaging.
• Upon returning to the customer delivery hub, complete your end-of-day vehicle check and debrief, reporting any issues or defects.
• Once qualified, there are opportunities for career progression to an installer position.

Required Qualifications:

• Full, clean, manual Category B driving licence (standard car driving licence) and prior driving experience.
• Must be aged 18 or over.

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience in the installation of white goods, furniture assembly, or related skills.
• Strong verbal communication skills, both over the phone and in person.
