Driver/Maintenance Technician

Priory Hospital Barnt Green is located in the stunning Lickey Hills Country Park, 10 miles south of Birmingham City Centre. We have thirty-three beds across three wards including a ten bedded female NHS Psychiatric Intensive Care, a thirteen bedded mixed gender NHS acute service, and a ten bedded private acute ward beds for both men and women.

In addition to providing inpatient services, the hospital has a large Outpatient Department, a Daycare Service and regional conference facilities. These services are expanding to include pathways in ADHD, Autism and potentially CAMHS this year so this is a fantastic and exciting time to join our Therapy Team.

This role is a dual role between driving duties as required by site and the role of a maintenance engineer. The driving aspect of this role will involve taking patients on leave from the hospital to local facilities/hospital appointments and repatriations to the different areas of the country.

The individual is responsible for reporting into the Head of Facilities and for ensuring the Common Maintenance Standards are maintained of the service. The Maintenance Technician will contribute to the delivery of effective, efficient and economical day-to-day maintenance, new and alteration works to ensure the safety of colleagues, service users and visitors and that they experience a pleasant and cared for environment.

Must have working knowledge and experience of:

  1. Site planned maintenance experience
  2. Undertaking maintenance related tasks
  3. Health and safety insight
  4. Proactive safety measures/risk management

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU:

  • Previous experience in indoor painting, minor home repairs including Plumbing, Electrical, grounds maintenance, decorating and other related remedial works.
  • Full, clean licence for driving the site maintenance van.
  • Committed and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to carry out weekly, monthly and quarterly checks at site relating to fire call point, window restrictor checks, fire door checks, alarm checks etc., and document reports.
  • Able to use own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational capability.
  • Flexibility and strong “can do” attitude.
  • Able to build a calm, friendly and positive working relationship with patients and staff alike.
