Are you a passionate and expressive Drama Teacher who believes in the transformative power of the performing arts?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Drama Teacher to join a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Eastleigh. This role is ideal for Qualified Teachers (QTS/ECTs), Overseas-Trained Educators, or experienced Teaching Assistants with a strong background in performing arts who are eager to step into a teaching role.

About the Role:

As a Drama Teacher, you will play a vital role in nurturing students’ creativity, imagination, and confidence through engaging, inclusive, and inspiring lessons. You will deliver a robust Drama curriculum to Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to school productions, enrichment programmes, and cross-curricular collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging Drama lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Encourage pupils to explore scripted and devised performance, character development, and theatrical techniques.
  • Plan, prepare and assess work by curriculum objectives.
  • Inspire students to participate in school performances, workshops and festivals.
  • Promote teamwork, empathy, and self-expression through performance.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support school-wide initiatives and cross-departmental projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Career Teacher (ECT), or overseas-trained equivalent.
  • A strong academic background in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching Drama at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is advantageous).
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants with a degree in Drama or Theatre Studies and classroom experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Creative flair, confidence in performance delivery, and a genuine passion for theatre education.
  • Excellent behaviour management and the ability to engage a diverse range of learners.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).

What We Offer:

  • Competitive pay scale in line with experience and qualifications.
  • A permanent full-time position in a progressive school environment.
  • Support from a dedicated consultant throughout your teaching journey.
  • Be part of a school community that celebrates the arts and champions creativity.

If you're ready to help young people take centre stage and explore their potential through drama, we want to hear from you.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
