Job Role: Drainage Design Engineer

Job Location: Norwich, Suffolk

About the role

JMS Engineers is a part of the JMS Group of companies that employ 50+ staff undertaking civil & structural engineering designs and has been serving the Construction Industry for over 25 years. We are looking to recruit a talented Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing civils team working on a variety of infrastructure projects. Working alongside colleagues within the local office as well as those in other parts of the Group, you will be encouraged to deliver highways and infrastructure projects for a diverse range of clients and sectors.

As part of the civils team, you will be involved from initial scheme concept through to detailed design and construction stages. The role offers the opportunity for the right candidate to develop their skills and progress their career working as part of a team of innovative engineers and specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Use the latest design software to create and manage designs.
  • Liaise with key clients and discuss design/technical solutions with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are appropriately resourced, delegating work to team members, programming deliverables, and monitoring progress.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior staff, fostering their development and progression.
  • Implement company policies and ensure adherence across your team.
  • Monitor and oversee project budgets and staff resources for projects undertaken.
  • Develop existing customer relationships and promote JMS's services.
  • Assist in achieving targeted revenues from current and new customers.

Qualifications:

We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and driven experienced Drainage Design Engineer able to meet the following criteria:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years of UK professional experience in civil engineering.
  • Demonstrable record of involvement in the design of highways and infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of cost estimation and project management.
  • Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
  • Use of industry design standards, i.e. DMRB; Manual for Streets; NJUG, SSG etc.
  • Problem solver, able to offer solutions to challenges.
  • Able to work and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Confident, articulate, collaborative & proactive.
  • Eagerness to learn and to develop your skills and career with training support.
  • Good time management and organisational skills to efficiently manage workload.
  • A good knowledge of the CDM regulations in addition to British standards and EU regulations.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across the UK to visit sites and other JMS offices.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK and be able to demonstrate proof when requested.
