Job description

Care assistant in Yarnton

Do you have experience in caring for others? Are you empathic and wish to make a difference to others’ lives? Do you live in Oxfordshire and want flexible work to fit in with your lifestyle? Then look no further than Oxford Aunts, award-winning home care specialists since 1967.

We have an exciting position as a care assistant in Yarnton, where you will be delivering care on an hourly basis in different clients’ homes. If you’re a caring individual with at least three months’ care experience then we’d love to speak with you! Your experience could either be in a professional or personal setting such as caring for a loved one.

In return for your commitment and diligence when supporting our clients, we provide the following employment packages for our hourly carers:

  • A guaranteed hours contract – depending on your availability, we’ll offer you between 5 to 30 hours guaranteed per week, with early morning, evening and / or weekend work available
  • Minimum call time of 1 hour
  • Increased weekend rate
  • A welcoming community – join a team that operates like a family, where every member is appreciated and supported
  • You will be paid for your time travelling and your mileage between calls – 45p a mile
  • Annual salary review
  • Supportive environment – personal and professional growth, with mentorship and training opportunities
  • Double pay on bank holidays
  • FREE Blue Light Card
  • Access to an assistance programme – supporting you in times of need
  • FREE Enhanced DBS at induction
  • Disability Confident Employer – ensuring that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations
What we are looking for:

As an hourly carer, you’ll be providing care, support and companionship to our clients in Oxfordshire who wish to live an independent life in their own homes. This will include providing personal care, assisting with household duties, supporting safe mobility in and outside of the home, companionship and running general errands, such as completing the weekly shop or collecting prescriptions.

As you will mostly likely be supporting clients to keep in touch with their community, local knowledge of the area is a plus. We also require you to have:

  • Previous paid or personal experience as a care assistant, domiciliary carer, support worker or personal healthcare assistant.
  • A driving licence is essential, with business insurance to drive for your client
  • Ability to use technology to a good level
  • Good professional and character references
  • A clean Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Residence within Oxfordshire
Why be a care assistant in Yarnton for Oxford Aunts?

Rated as ‘Good’ by our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, you can rest assured that you’ll be provided with the right tools, training and support to deliver the high-quality care that we are renowned for in Oxford.

We recently won Employer Award 2022 at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards for the diversity and inclusion of all of our employees, as well as being recognised as an age-diverse employer by Rest Less. This just goes to show how much we value our employees and everything they bring to caring for our clients in an empathetic and compassionate manner.

Oxford Aunts are not a care agency, so we only employ our own carers in the local area. This also means that we have a team of in-house trainers to deliver specially-built modules on home care directly to our carers, including moving and handling, first aid and medication – all of which is in line with the CQC’s stringent guidelines.

We are a close-knit team that continually supports each other, which is exactly what we offer to our carers: continued support, guidance and a great place to work where you will genuinely feel valued for everything you do.
