Job description

Are you a dispenser looking to progress within a forward-thinking practice?

Do you have excellent customer care skills and enjoy working in a demanding environment?

If so we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Dispensing

  1. Dispensing acute and repeat prescriptions
  2. Updating patients records where appropriate
  3. Dispensing controlled drugs in line with current regulations
  4. Checking colleagues dispensing
  5. Ensuring the dispensary area remains clean and tidy
  6. Maintaining the cold chain and reporting any concerns to management

Prescriptions

  1. Handing out prescriptions and collecting charges where appropriate
  2. Processing repeat requests as per surgery protocol
  3. Sorting and endorsing prescriptions
  4. Completing backs of prescriptions
  5. Generating prescriptions when required

Stock Control

  1. Ordering appropriate quantities of goods via the wholesalers' websites
  2. Checking in goods as and when delivered
  3. Returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers
  4. Stocking shelves, fridges and other storage areas using rotation method
  5. Removing out of date stock from shelves
  6. Disposal of returned medicine

About us

A small friendly practice in Corby/Weldon who work over two sites delivering care. We have a list size of 8567.

Job responsibilities

Other

  1. Completing annual mandatory & selective training
  2. Being up to date with the SOPs of the dispensary
  3. Attending dispensary and practice meetings
  4. Carrying out audits when required

Health & Safety

To implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy. This will include (but will not be limited to):

  1. Awareness of infection control policies within the workplace
  2. Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  3. Responsible for correct hand hygiene of self
  4. Identifying risks and escalating issues where needed
  5. Making effective use of training
  6. Maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean and safe way, free from hazards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NVQ level two in dispensing or equivalent
  • An ability to work alone and as part of a larger team
