About the Role

Simon Fraser University (SFU) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Curriculum Administration to provide strategic operational leadership and guidance in the development and implementation of a high-impact medical education curriculum at the SFU School of Medicine. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the operational effectiveness, accreditation compliance, and long-term success of the School’s curriculum.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

  • Strategic Operational Leadership: Lead the administration, implementation, and continuous improvement of the School of Medicine’s curriculum, ensuring it aligns with accreditation standards and institutional objectives.
  • Educational Innovation & Inclusive Pedagogy: Oversee the development of a curriculum that supports the removal of systemic curriculum deficiencies, promotes cultural safety, and advances inclusive and decolonized educational frameworks.
  • Faculty & Instructor Development: Develop and implement faculty and instructor training programs to support teaching excellence, align with curriculum objectives, and advance inclusive pedagogy.
  • Policy & Accreditation Compliance: Lead the establishment of governance structures, curriculum approval processes, and compliance with accreditation requirements while ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Engagement & Partnerships: Represent SFU in provincial, national, and international medical education collaborations, working closely with faculty, health authorities, Indigenous communities, and professional medical education organizations.
  • Project & Resource Management: Direct multiple large-scale curriculum initiatives, manage resources, and oversee a team of professionals to ensure the timely and effective delivery of the School’s programs.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Education or a related discipline, with a minimum of (10) years of related experience in managing pedagogical curriculum development, with a focus on program evaluation, pedagogy and teaching at a post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Proven expertise in educational governance, accreditation compliance, and the development of policies that support innovative and equity-driven curriculum frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing inclusive, decolonized, and culturally safe learning environments, particularly in collaboration with Indigenous communities.
  • Strong leadership in project and resource management, with the ability to oversee complex curriculum initiatives in a distributed learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and consensus-building skills, with experience in faculty development, mentorship, and cross-institutional collaboration.
