Director, Business Development - Fluent in French and English Languages

We're seeking a driven, self-motivated, sales-oriented, passionate, organized, and determined to succeed Director of Business Development to join our growing BD team in the UK.

As a Business Development Director, you will gain great knowledge and experience about the CRO & Pharmaceutical/biotech industries. Your role will focus on opening and expanding existing clients, driving new business opportunities and achieving agreed sales targets.

You will maintain the Salesforce.com database and ensure that all client meetings, RFP information, and relevant updates are captured and maintained within Salesforce.com. This is essential for the position.

Responsibilities:

Client management

  1. Research and gather intelligence on target market sectors / organizations and contacts as part of the sales process
  2. Focus on opening new clients and expanding existing clients - focusing on companies whose pipeline matches our expertise or business goals
  3. Achieve agreed sales targets, as well as number of client calls and visits
  4. Prepare and achieve sales plan
  5. Develop and maintain existing and new relationships with key decision makers at targeted accounts
  6. Maintain a high level of understanding of the decision-making process with all major sponsors
  7. Ensure that all proposal/contract details, client meetings, RFP (Request for Proposal) information, and relevant updates are shared between the clients and the company
  8. Develop relationships with leads or prospects to generate RFPs
  9. Organize client meetings and congresses as needed
  10. Establish and maintain contacts with operational departments as needed
  11. Act ethically to represent Linical
  12. Follow sales processes to streamline, coordinate and lead opportunity activities cross-functionally
  13. Demonstrate cross-functional collaboration with the functional heads beyond the proposal development process
  14. Review the proposal drafts to provide input on strategy and pricing level
  15. Support proposal management to ensure that all internal information will be delivered on time
  16. Interact with clients to collect necessary information, whenever applicable
  17. Submit proposals to the client and follow up during the entire CRO selection process

Manage and Lead the Bid Defence Process

  1. Take responsibility for drafting the BDM slide deck and work cross-functionally
  2. Obtain all relevant information from the sponsor
  3. Organize meetings in accordance with the sponsor’s schedule
  4. Collaborate with participants of the presentation
  5. Prepare rehearsals as requested and necessary (minimum of 3)
  6. Ensure regular communication with clinical project teams to secure the potential for repeat business and maximize opportunities for feedback
  7. Support the contract process and collaborate with the legal department
  8. Attend conferences, symposia, and exhibitions
  9. Maintain all relevant information related to leads, RFPs, proposals, emails (client and internal), territory business plans, meetings, and conference calls as applicable
  10. Ensure that all client meetings, RFP information, and relevant updates are captured and maintained within Salesforce.com. This is essential for the position.

The right candidate must have the following experience:

  1. Speak fluent French & English. Any additional languages would be a plus
  2. University degree in Natural Sciences/Medicine or a university degree in Business or comparable experience or education, with profound knowledge in clinical development, pharmaceutical, and biotech industry
  3. At least 3 years of sales experience and be a self-motivated person, capable of adapting and facing constant challenges within a fast-paced environment
  4. Strong presentation and writing skills
  5. Previous BD or sales experience within the CRO or Pharmaceutical arena would be highly advantageous
