Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Major Programmes & Projects (MPP) team as we both build new modern infrastructure and refurbish existing infrastructure for Armed Forces personnel serving in the Army. Defence Estates Optimisation (DEO) is part of a strategic alliance that works collaboratively with contractors and consultants. It focuses on standardising design and commercial processes to establish a platform approach, aligned to Government and MOD strategies. Its aim is to optimise the Defence Estate to create high quality, sustainable accommodation across the Estate, enhancing the working, training and lived experience of our service personnel.
Person Specification
The key tasks for this role are:
- Planning and Scheduling
- Leading on the Management of a 10 year pipeline of work for Major Projects.
- Refining cost and time assumptions as the programme matures.
- Monitor & Report on controls in relation to the value and progress of the Programme as determined by the Out letter to the Business Case.
- Stakeholder Engagement: develop and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to understand end user requirements and effectively communicate the benefits of the Programme.
- KPIs: Support Commercial colleagues with KPI tracking at Alliance and project level and provide feedback on trends and concerns within the Programme Team.
- Business Cases: Support the drafting of business cases and review notes as required in relation to the Programme.
- General Support as required including, but not limited to, Programme Governance, Risk & Information Management.
LicencesAs this role requires frequent visits to our sites, some of which are remote, the successful candidate is expected to hold a current Full UK driving license.

Working ArrangementsWhere business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
