Digital Manufacturing Engineer - Technology & Innovation

The Opportunity:
Due to an exciting pipeline of major infrastructure projects we are looking to expand the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering function within Technology & Innovation at Laing O'Rourke with the appointment of a Digital Manufacturing Engineer based from Sherwood Business Park, Nottinghamshire.

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering function is part of the Laing O'Rourke Technology and Innovation Group (T&I) responsible for developing innovation and utilising transferrable technology from other sectors of relevant scale to transform construction industry methods to improve safety, quality and productivity whilst increasing diversity within operations.

You will provide technical competence in digital manufacturing engineering within Laing O'Rourke's global manufacturing operations. The role covers both new product introduction programmes (NPI), for the development and establishment of world class production systems & support/development of existing products to support 'Design for Automated Manufacturing' (DfAM) production operations.

The technical scope of the role supports manufacturing feasibility through digital product & process design and simulation, facility development and concepts. This role encompasses virtual proving using established digital tools to support the business in the establishment of new manufacturing capabilities, volume uplifts, incremental business operations and continuous improvement projects to both new and existing operations, focussing on safety, quality, delivery, cost and corporate responsibility objectives.

  • Concept and scoping phase support

  • Liaison with digital systems engineers
  • Discrete event analysis / Scenario and schedule analysis
  • Facility Equipment Development
  • Digital Manufacturing assignments for products and operations
  • Sustainability analysis and initiatives - Carbon reduction
  • Develop and ownership 2D and 3D Facility Layouts.
  • Generate Process flows for the facility
  • Material flow and logistics analysis of facility
  • 3D concept design studies supporting ME process feasibility
  • Full Factory Simulation
  • Bill of materials maintenance
  • Digital Process Planning for all current and proposed product variance
