The Role:

The Digital Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the development, integration, and deployment of innovative digital solutions to align with the bank's strategic objectives. The role focuses on adopting agile and DevOps practices, ensuring scalability, and driving technical excellence in software delivery. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Digital Engineering Lead ensures the seamless delivery of high-quality digital products and solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Successful delivery of digital projects within defined timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Reduction in defect rates and release timelines through automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Alignment of digital engineering initiatives with architectural and strategic objectives.
• Continuous improvement in system performance and availability metrics.
• Employee engagement and retention within the digital engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Software Development Leadership

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performing, scalable, and secure software solutions.
• Implement Agile and DevOps practices to streamline development processes and accelerate delivery timelines.
• Oversee code quality practices, including reviews, testing automation, and adherence to coding standards.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with Change Delivery and Architecture teams to align technical solutions with business requirements and strategic goals.
• Partner with IT Operations and Information Security to ensure the security, reliability, and compliance of deployed systems.
• Work closely with the Director of Engineering to establish priorities, resource allocation, and roadmap alignment.

Technical Innovation

• Drive the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance digital engineering capabilities, including cloud-native development, microservices, and containerization.
• Lead initiatives to integrate AI/ML tools and APIs into digital products, enhancing their functionality and customer value.

Operational Excellence

• Manage Level 3 (L3) support for applications and systems, addressing escalated technical issues and root cause analysis.
• Ensure adherence to architectural guidelines and scalability requirements as defined by the Architecture team.
• Implement continuous improvement processes to optimize delivery cycles and operational performance.

Team Leadership and Development

• Mentor and develop a high-performing digital engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Identify skill gaps and implement training programs to enhance technical expertise within the team.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in software development, digital engineering, or a related role.
• Strong expertise in Agile, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#) and frameworks.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable knowledge & Experience:

• Experience in banking or financial services.
• Knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their application in digital products.
• Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).

Reporting and Relationships:

• Reports to the Director of Engineering.
• Collaborates closely with Architecture, IT Operations, Change Delivery, and Information Security teams.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to software developers and engineers within the digital engineering team.
