We are looking for a talented individual to create a variety of content for M&G Group’s digital channels. The role will suit a multi-skilled individual working with the wider Corporate Affairs function to produce engaging written content, videos, and images to promote M&G plc. The Corporate Affairs and Brand (CAB) function is a busy team responsible for media, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, brand, sustainability and internal communications. The scope of the role is global and covers the existing footprint of the business in Europe, Asia, and the US.


Job Purpose:


The role will be responsible for the following:

  • Reporting to the Head of Digital Communications, you will support the digital team’s objective to communicate M&G’s corporate story in order to drive traffic, build followers and reach more audiences with engaging content across M&G plc’s digital platforms and channels. This will involve writing a wide variety of content for blogs, web pages and social media and supporting the Group Executive Committee (GEC) with writing and content creation.
  • You’ll be responsible for identifying compelling digital content and planning it ahead to create monthly social content calendars and website content plans. You’ll know how to optimise content for audience and user experience and in driving views, engagements and visits. This will cover LinkedIn, Twitter, our corporate website, including thought leadership blog pieces.
  • This role will also create a variety of video content for use on M&G plc social media and its website, covering a wide range of corporate affairs topics, such as financial results, sustainability, public policy developments, asset management and savings trends and insights into life at M&G.
  • You’ll be working closely with creative and video agencies to support the creation of big-ticket video content for key communications, including financial results.
  • Contributing to the overall Corporate Affairs central planner, working collaboratively with teams across Corporate Affairs and Brand so that all digital content is fully integrated with wider Corporate Affairs activity.
  • Manage internal business stakeholders to ensure planned and timely content and engagement on our corporate channels is optimised across our core business areas. Support key GEC spokespeople with social media management and content writing.
  • Keep up to date with social media and digital communications trends advising senior stakeholders on opportunities, developments and best practices.
  • Manage social media listening at a corporate level, identifying and reporting opportunities and issues. Proactively identify mentions and tagging where our Plc channels can be part of the conversation and respond to posts.
  • Lead on translating digital analytics, insights and reporting, setting KPIs and sharing performance of our digital content back to the team and key stakeholders.
  • Support the global social media Group governance framework and website governance frameworks, including issues and crisis management planning. Be responsive to any developing issues or crisis.

Knowledge, skills and experience:


We are looking for a pro-active, creative and collaborative thinker who can spot opportunities and implement plans to further enhance M&G’s digital presence across its platforms and channels. The skills and experience you’ll need:


Communications skills/experience:

  • Experience of working in a large communications team – working in a listed financial services business is desirable, although not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including meticulous attention to detail, with proofreading and editing skills.
  • Proven ability to source stories, create and draft engaging content for a variety of platforms, including social media, infographics and thought leadership pieces. This role is more than simply copy and paste. We want pro-active individuals with a track record of thinking creatively and spotting opportunities by working collaboratively with the wider Corporate Affairs function to tell stories in an interesting way.
  • Able to engage with stakeholders across a large organisation, take the initiative and pitch ideas to the wider Corporate Affairs team.
  • Ideally experience in managing contracts with third parties and suppliers.
  • Be responsive and flexible with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This will mean occasional out of hours and weekend work.

Digital Experience

  • Ability to operate a camera or phone for videography/photography. Ability to produce and edit video content via tools and platforms.
  • Strong organisational skills, as this role will involve arranging film shoots and working with large groups of stakeholders from across the business, including C-suite.
  • Experience of managing high-impact digital campaigns and a track record of delivering successful viral content that builds followers and improves an organisation’s digital presence.
  • Understanding of social media trends and corporate affairs issues/campaigns to drive content creation.
  • Experience of re-platforming a website is not essential, but we welcome candidates who have knowledge of this.
  • Analytic mindset with proficiency in measuring, analysing and reporting on the effectiveness of content and campaigns across platforms.

Location

  • We are agnostic on location, but should the individual be based outside of London, frequent travel to central London is expected.
