Commercial Operations Manager

UK

The Commercial (Procurement) Operations Manager - EU Rice will be responsible for optimizing existing end-to-end rice supply chains for the Mars factory in Olen, Belgium, as well as partnering with Strategic Sourcing on designing, developing, and implementing new rice supply chains into our European sites, mostly originating in Spain and South America. This is a rewarding, demanding, and highly visible role that involves leading various stakeholders, including suppliers, material planners, and further internal departments, to step-change the efficiency and effectiveness of our inbound rice supply chains in the region.

What are we looking for?

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration / Supply Chain / Procurement / Logistics / R&D or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the supply chain or procurement operations. Experience in the food industry is a plus.
  3. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data analysis tools and M365 software. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  4. Languages: Excellent English (must-have) in spoken and written form; Spanish is a plus.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  1. Inbound Supply Chain Design and Co-Creation: Oversee the mid- and long-term rice supply chain set-up for the Food & Nutrition segment, focusing on Spain and South America as origin regions, driving for an equilibrium of cost, resilience, quality, and sustainability.
  2. Project Coordination: Lead and participate in large project teams, coordinating efforts across multiple factories / suppliers and managing a high degree of complexity and ambiguity.
  3. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and routing optimization within existing supply chains.
  4. Supplier Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers alongside the Strategic Sourcing Manager, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Lead supplier reviews and follow-up meetings to address any issues and improve supplier performance.
  5. Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the commercial and supply chain departments. Facilitate clear and effective communication to ensure alignment of goals and objectives.
  6. Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data to drive decision-making and provide insights into supply chain design and performance. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
