A unique opportunity has arisen within a new rental division of an established manufacturer. Due to the new side of the business exceeding expectations, an opening for a diesel fitter/engineer has become available in the Exeter area.

The role will involve reporting to the depot Senior Engineer along with mechanical and electrical engineering tasks in the depot and out in the field.

Ideally, you will have been trained by or worked with an engine manufacturer (CAT/Perkins/Volvo/JCB). The prime movers are used to drive large water pumps. These water pumps will be part of your remit also. Training will be provided if required for the pump end.

In this role, the mechanical/electrical engineer will:

1. Comply with health safety and environmental legislative requirements, ensuring risk assessments & method statements have been utilised.
2. Liaise with customers.
3. Undertake repairs for the diesel driven pump fleet.
4. Fault finding throughout the mechanical/electrical process, assisting with keeping our new fleet in a world-class condition.
5. Prioritise and efficiently manage all mechanical engineering works to ensure that the customer has the best service and reliability, with minimum down time.
6. Provide assistance with spares ordering.
7. Provide technical support to the customer and other engineers with the company, being part of a callout rota.
8. Check drawings, designs, materials, and equipment for conformity with project specifications, managing the maintenance planning and daily project inquiries.

The successful applicant will have:

1. A qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, with experience with large diesel engines, preferably OEM trained.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3. The ability to work unaided and as part of an engineering team.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay on task.
5. Full driving licence.

Hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 hour for lunch.

OT is 1 1/2 Monday to 12 Saturday and double time after.
