Job description

We are looking to recruit dedicated, skilled Diagnostic General Radiographers to work within our team at The University Hospital of North Midlands, Royal Stoke Site.


The role is varied and rewarding, working in a range of clinical settings. You will support outpatient clinics, endoscopy, theatres, Emergency and Inpatient Departments.


You will produce high quality diagnostic images and ensure patients receive high quality care at all times. You will support all grades of staff including Student Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners, and Apprentice Radiographers. It is essential to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting to ensure the best outcome for our patients.


The Trust is a level 1 Major Trauma Centre, with a wide variety of specialised services such as Neurosurgery, Cancer services, Gastroenterology, Orthopaedics, Spinal, Cardiothoracic, and Paediatrics (including a Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care). As an Imaging department, we are very proud to have achieved and maintain our QSI accreditation.


We have excellent equipment here at UHNM and a robust equipment replacement programme. We have just finished replacing 6 of our 8 General x-ray rooms with the latest Digital x-ray equipment. We have 10 image intensifiers, 4 of which are flat panels, and 11 Digital mobiles.


Applicants must be available for face-to-face interviews.


You will act as clinical lead when you are on duty. You will organise and prioritise competing clinical demands. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, professional environment that we can all be proud of. You will need to be knowledgeable, confident, handle pressure well whilst still being approachable, supportive, and caring to all.


You may be a band 6 Radiographer looking for a change or an experienced Band 5 Radiographer looking to progress and join an exciting imaging department.

Please note you will need a BSc Hons Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent and HCPC registration, a minimum of 12 Months NHS experience; and have had recently worked within a general x-ray team using digital technology.


Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the 24/7 demands of the service including BH’s.
