Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and security-cleared DevOps Engineer to join our Agile delivery and operations team, supporting continuous integration, deployment automation, and platform reliability across a suite of cloud-native, secure digital services. The successful candidate will have a strong background in AWS, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD tooling, and working within ITIL-governed environments. This role is critical in supporting a hybrid delivery model—balancing structured support operations with agile, iterative platform enhancements across sensitive, cloud-hosted services.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar.
2. Build and maintain secure and scalable AWS-based infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, and automated scripting.
3. Monitor system health and performance using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and ensure proactive incident response.
4. Collaborate with software engineering and support teams to troubleshoot issues, deploy updates, and optimise application performance.
5. Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code practices for consistent and repeatable environment builds.
6. Automate deployments, configurations, and rollback strategies to reduce downtime and manual errors.
7. Ensure platform security compliance with policy, logging, and access control requirements in SC-cleared environments.
8. Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and agile ceremonies to support ongoing product and service improvements.
9. Document processes, workflows, and recovery plans as part of evergreen service documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Minimum 6 years of experience in DevOps engineering or a similar infrastructure automation role.
2. Hands-on expertise with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, EFS, IAM, and API Gateway.
3. Strong proficiency in CI/CD tooling such as GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
4. Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools for configuration management and infrastructure automation.
5. Strong scripting knowledge (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
6. Solid understanding of networking, monitoring, DNS, SSL, and containerisation principles.
7. Experience working in Agile environments, supporting iterative development cycles and secure releases.
8. Familiarity with incident, change, and problem management processes (ITIL v4 preferred).

Certifications & Security Clearance:

• Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it is mandatory.
