Job description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Development Technologist to join the NPD team at the Wembley site.

Job Purpose:

To complete NPD / site activities in support towards customer projects from concept to launch. Ensuring these meet both the customer and company expectations, whilst satisfying all relevant technical criteria, leading to a timely and faultless successful launch, supported by the relevant site functions and Senior NPD Technologist.

Main Duties:

  • Always maintain an organised and audit-ready working environment.
  • Ensure organoleptic assessment on product is completed to customer and site requirements, information is collected professionally and able to be published for technical sign off.
  • Complete from start to finish product cooking validations as per specific customer technical requirements, recording and documenting the results. Information gathered will be used on specifications for back of pack artwork or in support towards external cooking validations.
  • Support the NPD team in any duties required to fulfil project or department goals or priorities.
  • Play a supportive role in customer visits / pre-production / launches where appropriate.
  • Support site benchmarking; organise samples and cooking.
  • Support the site teams in carrying out an internal risk assessment to ensure that all aspects of safety, legality and product quality are being met by the company within the current manufacturing procedures.
  • Perform other such duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and assist other departments within the business that are equal with level of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping practices always.
  • Challenge processes and practices within the department and suggest improvements where necessary.
  • Ensure that you understand and adhere to your personal responsibilities with regard to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Site Environmental Permit, company HSE policies, site safety rules, and procedures at all times.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and take corrective action or initiate controls to minimise the risk.
  • Effectively promote Health, Safety & Environmental awareness within your areas of control.
  • Carry out activities with awareness of their impact on the environment, both in terms of people and the local area.
  • Ensure that all statutory (industry guidelines), legal, food safety & integrity, and customer requirements are met.
  • Ensure adherence to all standards and processes relating to CCP monitoring, glass, complaints, label verifications and other paperwork in your area.

Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:

  • All core training and mandatory procedures.
  • All relevant site/area policies, procedures & processes (including customer specific requirements e.g. Sensory panel sign off).
  • Level 3 or 4 Food Safety certificate.
  • Previous experience in an NPD or food role.
  • Ability to interact with site teams and if applicable customers.
